ABOUT US
My name is Maria L. Jung and I would like to personally welcome you to Uncorking a Cure, or UAC for short.
Four years ago, after being diagnosed with Stage 3 Rectal Cancer, my dream was to develop a platform to promote awareness, provide colonoscopies to individuals who could not afford them and finally raise funds for a cure for others like me, who were not fortunate enough to have detected colorectal cancer in its early stages.
Now, because of the creativity and hard work of my husband Wayne Jung, who created the name, and developed this foundation as a “gift to me,” I am beginning to realize my dream and am asking for your support. Our love of discovering wine and wineries grew from Wayne’s desire to find short day trips during my recovery.
Therefore, it is fitting that this foundation combines two of our passions. If you are not a wine lover yourself, there may be special people in your life that would appreciate receiving our wine as a gift or for a special occasion.
Wayne and I have lived in Northern Kentucky for nearly seven years now, and that is why the majority of activities in support of UAC occur primarily in the tri-state area surrounding Cincinnati, Ohio. UAC is a non-profit corporation as recognized by the state of Kentucky and we are currently awaiting approval of our 501(c)3 application.
UAC promotes colorectal cancer awareness and prevention by building partnerships, encouraging screening, supporting education, providing training and developing awareness funded entirely through a series of fun and informative events particularly tied to wine and food.
UAC works with local partners to find culturally appropriate ways to strengthen awareness through the creative use of media – radio, TV and print – event development, facilitation, training, community organizing, policy forums, sports and music.
I am so happy you have found our website and encourage you to visit often!
Together, we are Uncorking a Cure.
