OUR COMMUNITY

Uncorking A Cure (UAC) is the outgrowth of a specific need to give back to the community for the outpouring of support received by its founder, Maria L. Jung, a person afflicted with a rare case of rectal cancer in 2004 at the age of 45. Now cancer-free, but still searching for a “reason” as to why her cancer developed in the first place, Maria has determined that the best way to help the community is to speak openly of her illness and warn others of the physical, mental and emotional impact that comes with the diagnosis of a disease that very well could have been prevented. A native of the St. Louis area, Maria and her family now reside in Northern Kentucky.

UAC is funded solely through the charitable contributions of its supporters and event participants and the primary goal of UAC is to educate and reassure the residents of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana that colorectal cancer is preventable, treatable and beatable!
